Felix Kraft studied Classical Philology and German Studies in Munich, Oxford and Bergamo. Since 2022, he has been a doctoral student at the University of Bern in the SNSF project "Gattungspoetik des Sakralen".
He writes about his doctoral project and his research stay: "Using the poems of Friedrich von Hardenberg, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Rainer Maria Rilke and Bertolt Brecht, I am investigating the aesthetics developed by sacred poetry (in) modernism. I pay particular attention to the ritual practices, religious media and the reworking of pre-modern genres in the texts. During my stay in Jena, I want to delve further into Novalis' Geistliche Lieder, which he wrote in close collaboration with Friedrich Schleiermacher's Reden über Religion."
