Interdisciplinary Seminar: Spaces and Mediating Practices in Romanticism
(scheduled for the summer semester of 2027)
Dr. Britta Hochkirchen (Department of Art History and Film Studies)
Prof. (apl.) Dr. Sandra Kerschbaumer (Department of German Literature)
This interdisciplinary seminar, which draws on literary studies and art history, aims to combine a theoretically grounded exploration of the Romantic era with the development of transferable skills for professional practice. The course will be combined with fieldwork sessions at regional historical sites of (Early) Romanticism, in order to conduct practical training sessions at these learning locations. Depending on the partner institution, this may involve, for example, acquiring expertise in archival work, exhibition practice, or public relations. The planned seminars are to be integrated into bachelor, master, and teacher-training programs in German literature and art history. In this way, the interdisciplinary seminars will help sharpen the educational profile of students with a view to their future professional fields.
