Junior Fellowship 2027
Application deadline: 30 September 2026
The Jena Centre for Studies in Romanticism is offering a Junior-Fellowship for a period of two months for the year 2027 to doctoral candidates specializing in the field of Romanticism.
The fellowship is designed to support doctoral researchers by providing them with financial resources to refine the research project within the research framework of the Centre for Studies in Romanticism and to gain research experience in an interdisciplinary context at the location of early Romanticism in Jena.
Eligibility for funding requires above-average academic performance with a Master’s degree as well as a keen interest in the field of Romanticism, as represented by the Centre. The topic for the PhD should have a clear thematic connection. A willingness to actively participate in the interdisciplinary activities of the Centre is expected.
The Jena Centre for Studies in Romanticism is one of the research centres at Friedrich Schiller University and is part of its Liberty research profile. Its academic focus is on Romanticism in its various areas of tension and constellations. It examines the theories and methods of studies in Romanticism, the diversity of European manifestations of Romanticism and their potentially Eurocentric relationship to non-European cultures, as well as the historicity of the “Romantic” and “Romanticism,” their transformation, and their impact up to the present day. For more information about the Centre, visit: www.romantik-zentrum.uni-jena.de
