Thomas Mann, Romanticism and Democracy [cancelled]

What connections to Romanticism can be found in Thomas Mann's writing? How do these influence the political thinking and actions of the 1929 Nobel Prize winner for literature?

Kai Sina (University of Münster) has revived the debate about the political Thomas Mann with his book"Was gut ist und was böse" (2024): his essay shows the poet as a political activist.
Mark-Georg Dehrmann (Humboldt University Berlin) researches the relationship between literature and history, among other things, and has published several articles on Friedrich Schlegel.
In the 'Blue Salon', the two literary scholars will discuss Thomas Mann's ideas of 'Romanticism' and consider their influence on his understanding of politics and democracy in the light of the new theses.
